REFDC guide
One Batman name, several reference worlds
DC’s September 18 Batman Day reading guide puts the main-universe Batman and Absolute Batman side by side in Batman of Two Worlds. It also distinguishes the film-continuation world of Batman ’89, the horror interpretation Gargoyle of Gotham and the family-centered Wayne Family Adventures. These are publisher-described routes into the character, not a ranking of costumes seen today. Batman Day is September 19; the reading guide was published the day before. [1]
For your next buildLabel your reference folder with the exact series, artist or screen version. Compare the cowl, chest emblem and cape outline within that version before combining details. A deliberate reinterpretation is different from accidentally mixing references; record which choices are yours.
Third Eye Comics lists Batman Day activities at all its locations on September 19 during normal store hours, and invites visitors in bat-cosplay to enter a prize-pack drawing. Its event page names Annapolis, Lexington Park, Glen Burnie, College Park, Waldorf, Mechanicsville and Short Pump, with closing times ranging from 7 to 9 pm. This is a retailer’s costume invitation, not a verified craftsmanship contest, and the page does not establish a separate drawing cutoff or construction criteria. [2]
For your next buildUse the specific store’s hours and participation instructions, not a convention checklist. Plan a compact costume that lets you browse and move through a shop. Do not assume purchases, giveaway stock or a costume automatically guarantee a prize; no availability or results are claimed here.
Japan Matsuri runs September 19–20 at Espocentro Pavilion, Via G. Cattori 3, Bellinzona, Switzerland. Its cosplay contest is scheduled Sunday, September 20 at 14:45. Both the organizer page and linked preregistration form give September 19 at 18:00 as the online and on-site entry deadline. At this edition’s 17:15 Eastern check, it is already 23:15 in Bellinzona. The form remains reachable, but the published entry window has passed; no extension is verified. [3][4][5]
For your next buildAlready registered contestants have a different deadline: the rulebook requires reporting to the Info Point by 12:30 Sunday with valid ID and a signed waiver, with parent or guardian signature for minors. A spectator ticket, a reachable form and a validated contest entry are different things. This is deadline-based closure, not a claim that the form has been disabled.
04 / PerformanceExisting June rulebook · performance primer
90 SECsolo limit
The performance file must be stage-ready
Japan Matsuri’s June 15 rulebook limits individual performances to 90 seconds and groups to three minutes. Audio must be a single MP3 or WAV; video must be a single MP4 or AVI. Music accompanying a projected image or video must be combined into one file, and staff will not edit submissions. Large or heavy props must be moved and set up by the entrant; helpers need their own admission tickets. This is existing guidance, not another open call. [5][8]
For your next buildExtend September 13’s performance-file theme with a local export checklist: play the actual combined file from start to finish, confirm its duration, and rehearse the prop setup with your helper. Use this organizer’s format limits rather than copying another convention’s rules. Entrants should follow their confirmed submission arrangements; no late media replacement is promised.
05 / CraftEstablished manufacturer guide · dyeing primer
93°Cdye bath
Read the fiber label before changing the color
Rit’s DyeMore instructions require a stovetop bath at 200°F / 93°C or greater for synthetic fabrics; the manufacturer explicitly says a washing machine cannot reach the needed temperature. It recommends checking fiber content and testing a swatch, because fiber composition and weight affect the result. Existing color mixes with the dye, and synthetic garments generally need a darker overdye rather than an assumed color removal. This is product-specific guidance, not a new dye release or a recipe for every textile. [6][7]
For your next buildFollowing yesterday’s neckline-finishing primer, test color before sewing the finished garment. Use your actual fabric, keep it moving freely in a suitable pot, follow the full handling directions and check that the textile tolerates the required heat. Compare the dry swatch with your character reference: Rit notes that wet fabric looks darker. If the material or finished piece cannot tolerate or fit this method, choose another material or finish.

On the floor
Scope: DC’s reading guide, one retailer’s event listing and one manufacturer’s technical instructions. No crowd reporting, global rankings or inferred build materials. [1][2][6]
Batman variants → intentional reference selection
DC’s September 18 guide distinguishes main-universe, Absolute and film-continuation versions. This publisher’s selection supports a reference exercise, not a global cosplay popularity claim.
Retail gatherings → a smaller costume setting
Third Eye’s Batman Day page explicitly invites bat-cosplay. One chain’s promotion shows a participation format outside conventions, not evidence of an industry-wide shift.
Textile color → a material-specific test
Rit’s instructions connect fiber composition, existing color and heat with dye results. The useful signal is a documented craft constraint, not sales or adoption data.
Checked September 19, 2026, starting 17:15 America/Detroit. Five findings across four independent external domains: a September 18 publisher guide, today’s scheduled retail activity, two distinct Swiss contest-planning findings and an established dyeing primer—not five overnight announcements. All seven prior editions were reviewed; unchanged previously covered deadlines are omitted. Today’s improvement is Swiss primary-source breadth with a cross-time-zone deadline check and the organizer’s dated PDF rulebook. No form was submitted. Source dates remain unset where unavailable. No sponsored placements, attendance estimates or reproduced photography.
