A Philippine duo’s reported world-title win, Johannesburg’s on-the-day cosplay route and a mold-making compatibility test. Four useful findings, with the dates and limits kept visible.

Team Mythical Duo brings back a reported GICOF title
VRSUS reports that the Philippines’ Team Mythical Duo won first prize at the Gyeonggi International Cosplay Festival World Championship on September 19 in Bucheon, South Korea. The September 21 article traces the team’s qualification to Anime and Cosplay Expo and identifies its qualifier characters as Erlang Shen and Sun Wukong from Black Myth: Wukong. This closes the loop on our September 18 festival preview with a reported result, not an open entry call. The source infers continuity of the performance from photographs; we do not treat that as proof of an identical finals routine or unseen construction methods. [1][6]
For your next buildFor a paired performance, choose one exchange that makes the characters’ relationship legible, then rehearse spacing and sightlines in costume. Treat a results article as a route to the makers’ own breakdowns, not as a materials list. The award is attributed to VRSUS; a complete organizer-issued results sheet is not reproduced here.
Comic Con Africa runs September 24–27 at Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, South Africa. Its cosplay guide lists two daily casual competitions, at 13:00 and 16:00, with free session sign-up at Cosplay Central before the session. The programme, marked updated September 21, says places are limited and welcomes all skill levels and fandoms. This is on-site registration for casual cosplay, not evidence that championship applications remain open. The Thursday grid ends its first slot at 13:25 while the general description says 13:30, so check the current running order on site. [2][3][4][7]
For your next buildBudget time for registration before changing into a complicated costume. Free competition sign-up is not free convention admission, and a planned session is not a reserved place. Yesterday’s Cork parade coverage showed another participation format; use each organizer’s actual rules rather than assuming that parade and competition requirements match.

A build conversation belongs on the convention plan
The same Comic Con Africa programme schedules GoingApe Cosplay and Yugoro on the main stage on Thursday, September 24, from 12:30 to 12:50. The organizer describes a conversation about creative journeys, build techniques and character choices. It is a stage discussion, not a promised hands-on workshop or a particular materials demonstration. The programme is explicitly subject to change. Its placement before the 13:00 casual competition is useful for planning, but does not guarantee enough time to watch the whole talk and register afterward. [4]
For your next buildArrive with one focused question: how does a large detail attach, travel or come apart for repair? Separate what a speaker actually demonstrates from your own proposed adaptation. If also entering casual cosplay, handle sign-up first and confirm the day’s stage timings rather than treating the ten-minute gap as a registration window.

TESTsurface compatibility
Test what touches the silicone
Smooth-On’s Rebound 25 instructions warn that contaminants can leave platinum-cure silicone gummy at the model surface or prevent curing altogether. Listed risks include latex, sulfur-containing clay and certain other materials. The manufacturer says Rebound will not work with sulfur clay even with a sealer, and recommends a small compatibility test when the surface is uncertain. It also specifies vinyl gloves because latex gloves can inhibit cure. This is established product guidance, not a new release or a claim about every silicone. It extends September 17’s sculpting primer from shaping an original to checking whether it can be molded. [5][8]
For your next buildBefore covering a finished emblem or sculpt, test a non-critical area with the exact model surface, coating and silicone you intend to use. Wait the product’s specified cure time and inspect the contact face, not just the outside. Follow the full instructions and safety data for ventilation, eye protection and handling; do not assume extra waiting or release spray can rescue an incompatible sulfur-clay master.

On the floor
Scope: VRSUS’s result report, Comic Con Africa’s programme and Smooth-On’s instructions. No global rankings or visitor counts. [1][4][5]
Black Myth: Wukong → paired character storytelling
VRSUS identifies Erlang Shen and Sun Wukong in Team Mythical Duo’s qualifier account. That specific team reference supports a performance exercise, not a worldwide fandom ranking.
Convention stages → participation and learning
Comic Con Africa’s current programme puts casual competitions and a maker conversation on the same day. This is one organizer’s schedule, not evidence of industry-wide growth.
Sculpted detail → a tested molding surface
Smooth-On’s product instructions make surface compatibility part of the molding process. Applying that test to costume ornaments is an editorial craft suggestion, not an adoption statistic.
Checked September 21, 2026. Four findings across three independent external domains rather than padding a thin fresh-news day: today’s reported result, two distinct Johannesburg programme findings and an established molding primer. All seven prior editions were reviewed. Today’s improvement adds South African primary-source coverage, separates casual on-site registration from unverified championship entry, and flags a five-minute schedule discrepancy. Undated pages retain no publication date. No sponsored placements or reproduced event photography.
