A crossover works when both references remain readable
John Walker’s September 28 Kotaku gallery, credited to Mineralblu, highlights Dragon Con costumes including an X-Men and Star Wars “Storm” Trooper, Totoro reimagined through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and a packaged Buc-ee’s Barbie. AtlantaFi places the completed convention on September 3–7 in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. This is a new gallery of an earlier event, not this weekend’s gathering. Its twenty selected examples document the editor’s choices, not a ranking of the convention’s most common fandoms. [1][2][11]
For your next buildFollowing September 25’s WALL-E reinterpretations, sketch a crossover with one unmistakable cue from each reference. Ask a friend to identify both before you add fine detail. Use the credited gallery for the images; no photographs are reproduced here, and the captions do not establish hidden materials or construction methods.
Nicosia puts repairs and changing space on the map
Cyprus Comic Con runs October 2–4 at Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia, Cyprus. Its cosplay guide lists a private changing room, cloakroom, repair station, Cosplay Village and professional photo booths. The homepage says clearly identifiable full cosplay qualifies for free entrance; a mask or hat alone does not. The photo offer has a separate limit: free images are distributed through the organizer’s social media after the event, while high-resolution versions or prints can be purchased from photographers. [3][4]
For your next buildPlan a costume’s arrival and repair routine as carefully as its pose. Mark where you will change and store belongings, and carry a small kit matched to your own fasteners. The organizer does not list the repair station’s exact stock here, so do not assume it has a specialist adhesive or replacement part. Free admission and photo services are not contest registration or a blanket commercial-use photo license.

Two Saturday workshops connect surface and structure
The Cyprus Comic Con programme, marked checked September 28 at 15:00, schedules Manic Crafts: Basics of Cosplay Weathering from 13:00 to 14:00 on Saturday, October 3, followed by Captain Ghostly: Cosplay Armor & Props: The art of crafting from 14:00 to 15:00. Both are listed at the Cosplay Village Stage in Hall B. These are planned workshops at the same event, not completed demonstrations or a promise that particular tools and materials will be supplied. [3][5]
For your next buildBring one question about a surface finish and one about how a prop is supported or assembled. Keep notes on what the presenter actually demonstrates before adapting it to your material. Check the live schedule before arrival; the listing does not establish booking requirements, remaining places or a take-home kit. A workshop title alone is not a complete weathering recipe.

Portland’s entry window has now closed
Our September 23 edition found Kumoricon’s cosplay entry form available ahead of its September 27, 11:59 pm Pacific deadline. Today the same linked form explicitly says the deadline has passed and the form is closed. The rules still state that no on-site entries will be accepted. This is a verified change in application status, not another reminder of an unchanged cutoff; the contest page’s visible Enter Now wording does not mean entries remain open. [6][7][10]
For your next buildIf you already applied, use organizer correspondence to track your entry rather than treating the old button as evidence of acceptance. If you missed the window, do not plan on an on-site application. The published rules say later technical information is requested from accepted entries; a submitted form, a waitlist position and an accepted entry are different states. No reopening or late-entry exception was found in these sources.

BACKtemporary ≠ permanent
Embroidery needs the right kind of hidden support
Sulky’s stabilizer guide distinguishes permanent cut-away backing, which continues supporting embroidery through wear and laundering, from temporary tear-away backing removed after stitching. It describes cut-away as useful when a design needs stretch resistance, and tear-away as a common starting point for regular woven fabrics. These are general uses, not universal rules: the guide’s open-weave example shows why fabric structure can require a different choice. This is established machine-embroidery guidance, not a new product launch. [8][9]
For your next buildBefore embroidering a costume crest, stitch a small sample using the same fabric, thread and needle planned for the finished piece. Sulky’s companion guide explicitly recommends that matching test. Compare puckering and the feel of the backing after removal or trimming as directed; label the sample for later builds. Treat branded product examples as the manufacturer’s guidance, not a requirement to buy a particular sampler.

Scope: one credited gallery, one organizer’s current programme and manufacturer instruction. No attendance estimates, global rankings or inferred materials. [1][4][5][8][9]
Crossover costumes → two clear references
Kotaku’s selected Dragon Con gallery names several mashups. That supports an exercise in combining recognizable cues, not a global fandom-popularity claim.
Convention support → more than stage time
Cyprus Comic Con lists changing, storage, repairs and maker workshops. These are one organizer’s planned services; their listing is not evidence of capacity or attendee outcomes.
Decorative stitching → structural choices
Sulky’s guides link stabilizer choice to fabric and continued support. Applying that distinction to a costume crest is an editorial craft suggestion, not a measured adoption trend.
Checked September 28, 2026. Five findings across independent editorial, organizer and manufacturer sources: one newly published recap, two distinct Cyprus planning findings, a changed application status and an established craft primer. The seven latest available editions were reviewed. Today’s improvements add Cyprus primary-source coverage and an embroidery primer, and close the loop on September 23 with the actual closed-form message. Undated source pages retain no publication date. Programme check time is not an announcement date. No forms submitted, sponsored placements or reproduced event photography.
