Two characters can share one performer reference

Midlife Crisis Crossover’s September 27 Cincinnati Comic Expo gallery documents the writers’ Saturday visit to the downtown First Financial Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. One photographed pairing brings together the Seventh Doctor and Radagast the Brown, described as a tribute to guest Sylvester McCoy, who played both roles. Other captions identify a Team Fortress 2 Engineer and Grand Admiral Thrawn. The writers explicitly say their selection represents only a fraction of the costumes they saw; it is not a contest-results list or a fandom census. [1]

For your next buildFor a paired costume, try a connection beyond a shared fictional universe: an actor, a visual motif or a complementary gesture. Give each character its own reference sheet, then plan one pose that explains the connection. Follow the credited gallery for the images; hidden materials and build methods are not established by its captions.

Pasig’s idol gathering gets a new preview, not a new date

arkadymac’s new preview places AICon 2027 at Bayanihan Center in Pasig City, Philippines, on January 9, with an Ignite Your Passion theme centered on fictional 2D anime idols and performance. The date and venue were already reported by Mokugekisha on July 17, so this is renewed coverage of an existing plan. Both outlets disclose media-partner relationships. The September article contains stray references to 2026; its headline and opening identify 2027, consistent with the older report and the linked ticket form’s title. [2] [3] [4]

For your next buildSeparate an admission ticket from a performance entry. The linked 2027 order form loads its terms, including costume-prop restrictions, but that does not verify remaining ticket inventory or an open contest audition. Read the full current rules before planning a dance costume or large accessory. Choose a reference that remains readable in motion, then rehearse the movement in a small prototype; no specific fandom’s popularity is inferred here.

Detroit’s two Apply Now buttons lead to different events

MagicCon: Detroit is announced for February 26–28, 2027, at Huntington Place. Its cosplay page and Detroit application both list January 11, 2027, at 11:59 pm Pacific as the deadline. The first Apply Now link opens a Detroit form with entry fields; the second opens an inactive Atlanta form. There is also a date conflict: the event page schedules the contest for Saturday, February 27, while the Detroit form calls it Saturday, February 28, which is actually Sunday. Neither discrepancy should be silently resolved for applicants. [5] [6] [7] [8]

For your next buildUse the Detroit-titled destination and seek organizer clarification before relying on the contest date or commissioning rules: the page allows a commissioned costume with its creator present, while the form asks entrants to certify their costume is not commissioned and is 70% handmade by them. The form requests card-reference and front/back progress images under 3 MB each, showing at least 50% completion. Read all eligibility terms; a reachable form is not acceptance, and a badge is separate. No application was submitted.

A costume swap begins with ready-to-use materials

Overload’s Cosplay Swap guidance offers a concrete community format: free costumes, fabric, wigs, foam, props, patterns and sewing supplies, with contributions limited to around five items per person. Clothes should be washed; wigs should be washed, fully dried and detangled. The organizer lists Overload for September 26–27 at the New Zealand International Convention Centre, 101 Hobson Street, Auckland. At this Detroit evening check it is already September 28 in Auckland, so this is a look at the published format, not an invitation to attend today or a claim about what changed hands. [9] [10] [13]

For your next buildExtend September 20’s reuse theme by sorting a small set of supplies into usable, repair-needed and unsuitable items before offering them to another maker. For a future swap, describe condition and material type, and agree on what happens to leftovers. Overload says donations are final and leftovers may be passed on or cleared away. Its off-site September 20 drop-off deadline has passed; no continuing collection is asserted.

Half the LED number is not half the perceived brightness

Adafruit’s gamma-correction guide explains why a numeric halfway setting on an addressable LED can look brighter than expected, and why a red/green mix intended as orange can appear yellow. Human brightness perception is nonlinear. Its companion tutorial remaps input values through a lookup table before sending them to the LEDs; the example maps a nominal halfway level near 127 to roughly 36. Those numbers illustrate the guide’s curve, not a universal color calibration or a new hardware release. [11] [12] [14]

For your next buildFollowing September 23’s small-light costume details, test one programmable LED behind the actual translucent part before scaling up. Compare a short brightness ramp and one character color with and without the guide’s correction method; record which looks right under your intended lighting. Gamma correction changes color and perceived brightness behavior, but does not replace the hardware’s wiring, power or battery instructions. This is a software-and-material sample, not a claim that every LED costume needs the same curve.

Checked September 27, 2026, America/Detroit. Five findings: a new Saturday-visit recap, a recent preview of an older Philippine announcement, an existing Detroit call checked at both link destinations, Auckland’s published swap format and an established LED primer—not five overnight announcements. The seven latest available editions were reviewed; unchanged recurring deadlines are omitted. Today’s improvement verifies both Detroit application destinations and exposes date and commissioning conflicts, while broadening craft coverage to light perception. The two AICon reports are disclosed media partners, not independent eyewitness confirmation. Undated guidance retains no publication date. No forms submitted, sponsored placements, visitor estimates or reproduced photography.
