Vizag’s first edition moves from announcement to opening day
The Hindu reports that the first Vizag Comic Con opened October 10 at Kalam Convention Centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. Its account names Captain America, Rapunzel and Anya from Spy x Family among the costumes, with Holy Cow Entertainment and Yali Dream Creations in Artist Alley. Comic Con India’s event listing corroborates October 10–11 and the venue. The newspaper schedules a cosplay contest for Sunday, October 11; it does not report winners or establish that contestant places remain available. [1][2]
For your next buildFor a Sunday visit, separate admission from stage participation. The organizer says day tickets are not transferable between dates and asks attendees to bring their ticket and valid photo ID for wristband collection. Its general prohibited-items list is not a detailed cosplay-prop approval: confirm any ambiguous prop with staff. No current contest application deadline, closure or remaining capacity is established by these sources. The named characters describe this report’s selection, not a local popularity ranking.

Bordeaux’s floor report puts the conversation beside the costume
Luca Mentzer’s Sud Ouest report visits Animasia at Bordeaux’s Parc des expositions on October 10. It describes a maker choosing textiles for a handmade costume and two attendees connecting through Honkai: Star Rail. The organizer confirms the October 10–11 festival and lists cosplay, traditional arts, drawing, K-pop and South Korea among its themes. This is a first-day account of specific participants and conversations, not a survey of French fandom or a contest-results report. [3][4]
For your next buildUse a shared character as an invitation to discuss one concrete choice: fabric, silhouette or a difficult detail. Ask before photographing and credit the maker when sharing with permission. The report includes a participant’s description of a prop, but that is not a construction recommendation or proof that the same materials will be admitted elsewhere. Read the organizer’s own participation rules before making a stage plan; neither cited page verifies an open contestant window. No attendance projection is repeated as an observed count.

New York’s second gallery adds mash-ups and paired silhouettes
Jen Lennon’s new Gizmodo gallery records NYCC’s second day, October 9, with photographs credited to Adriano Contreras/io9. Its captions include a Batman/Joker mash-up, Gandalf with Barad-dûr/the Eye of Sauron, Reze from Chainsaw Man and a six-arm Spider-Man credited to @jtncosplays. It also credits @anzietecosplays for Dr. Ryland Grace from Project Hail Mary. This extends yesterday’s design-version lesson with examples of hybrid and paired presentation, rather than repeating the opening-day news. [5][10]
For your next buildOn a reference board, distinguish a canonical variant, an original mash-up and a coordinated pair. For a duo, sketch how the two silhouettes read together before planning a photograph. The captions identify the gallery’s subjects; they do not disclose attachment systems, materials or the makers’ build process. Visit the original for photographs and credits—none are reproduced here. A selected day-two gallery is not evidence that any of these fandoms dominates the convention or is growing worldwide.

5 MINcraftsmanship explanation
A five-minute build explanation needs a small evidence trail
Tsubasacon’s official rules ask craftsmanship entrants for a printed character reference and a build book showing progress. Each contestant receives five timed minutes to explain construction, material or pattern choices and what they learned. The convention runs October 9–11 at Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center in Charleston, West Virginia, USA; the rules list judging on Friday and Saturday. This is existing guidance during an ongoing event, not a newly announced application opportunity or a report of judging results. [6][7][8]
For your next buildPractice a short explanation around three process images: the reference, an in-progress decision and the finished detail. Distinguish work you made from help received, and read the complete eligibility rules. The linked 2026 signup form still displays fields with no closure notice, but that does not establish a remaining Saturday judging slot. On-site capacity and cutoff are unverified; ask the cosplay table instead of treating a live form as acceptance. This build-book exercise remains useful after the weekend.

FLEXfinish · bend · paint
Choose a foam finish by movement, not a single best-product claim
Punished Props’ foam-sealing guide explicitly says there is no single best method: tools, available materials and the maker’s skills affect the choice. Its comparison separates flexibility, drying or curing time, painting, sanding and ease of use. For example, it rates wood glue poorly for flexibility while giving Flexbond a good rating. Those are the authors’ qualitative comparisons in an established tutorial, not standardized laboratory measurements, a new release or a current price guide. [9][10]
For your next buildAfter yesterday’s thermoplastic offcut lesson, reserve an EVA foam scrap for a different test: apply the intended coating and paint system, let it cure according to current product instructions, then bend it as the costume will bend. Inspect cracking and surface changes before coating the full build. Follow each product’s handling and ventilation instructions; the old comparison is not a substitute for current technical guidance. Shared fandom → a conversation starter
Sud Ouest describes two Animasia participants connecting through Honkai: Star Rail. This is an attributed example of community interaction, not a measured increase in that fandom.
Judging → explain the decisions
Tsubasacon asks for printed references, process evidence and a timed construction explanation. That is one organizer’s format, not a universal contest standard.
Checked October 10, 2026, America/Detroit. Five findings: three newly published reports or galleries, one existing organizer guide and one established craft primer—not five overnight announcements. Prior seven editions reviewed; unchanged recurring deadlines omitted. Today adds Visakhapatnam opening-day coverage with an organizer admission check and a primary-source build-book exercise. Undated guidance retains no publication date; the older foam guide’s conflicting index date is not treated as a fresh update. Tsubasacon form visibility is not confirmed availability. No forms submitted, sponsored placements, visitor counts or reproduced photography.
